Options Illegal?????

I have just been told that doing Options in New Jersey is Illegal. Apparently, Lease Options are OK, but not Options. I wanted to option a house, and then re-sell it for a profit, but the sellers lawyer said it is illegal and offered me no proof. Does anyone know more about this? I am not a Realtor. Maybe it is illegal for Realtors? I don't know!
